About the Author

Dr. Nowamagbe A. Omoigui was a world-class physician and one of the foremost Nigerian-American scholars of civil-military history. A prodigious talent from an early age, he graduated with distinction from Federal Government College, Warri at 15 and later emerged as the top graduating student of the University of Ibadan Medical School in 1981.

His service with the Brigade of Guards provided rare insights into Nigeria’s military history and shaped his later scholarly work. In the United States, Dr. Omoigui trained at leading institutions including Stanford University and the Cleveland Clinic, and made history as the first Nigerian immigrant appointed Chief of Cardiology at a major U.S. university medical school.
