Description

When the history of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion is written, it shall record that the Most Revd. Dr Caleb Maduoma served as a Bishop from July 11, 1999, to September 22, 2020, and as an Archbishop from January 12, 2013, to September 22, 2020. It may or may not showcase in its records the hard work, struggles, perseverance, impact, achievements or the perspectives revealed in this book. Therefore, this book seeks to make a modest contribution in that regard by sharing Archbishop Maduoma’s story from his eyes and from that of others who knew him. Hence, the book is divided into two parts.

Part I narrates Archbishop Maduoma’s story from the beginning of his life. It tells the circumstances surrounding his birth and the meaning behind his names. This part captures his educational pursuits and his near-death experiences as a soldier in the Biafran war; and exposes Caleb’s life after the war, his Christian growth, as well as his journey to ministry. It highlights his career path and sheds light on his courtship and marriage. It focuses on Archbishop Maduoma’s experiences as a husband of one wife; father to eight biological children and several others; Vicar of five congregations; Bishop of two Dioceses; Archbishop of a Province; and his most treasured achievement in ministry.

Part II of the book begins with the experiences that Archbishop Maduoma’s wife and his children have shared with him. Then, it moves on to reveal what Archbishop Caleb’s extended family think about him. It expresses the opinions of his in-laws and reveals the impression he left in the House of Bishops. It captures his shared experiences with his close friends, and the views his parishioners, workers and priests hold about him. In summary, Part II of this book gives insights into Archbishop Caleb Maduoma’s personality, the impact he had, and the roles he played in the lives of all who encountered him.

Lastly, as someone stated in the book, “Behind/beside any holy man of a Great God is a holy woman of God”. Therefore, the book also highlights the contributions of Mrs Onyinyechi Maduoma, wife of Archbishop Caleb Maduoma to her family and the Church of God. It reveals her personality, and all God used her to accomplish during her time, with Caleb, in the ministry.
